The youth are the future of the clubs
Golf Club Oberstaufen-Steibis takes Junior Golf seriously. Our Junior Liaison Office (JLO) Dunja Rogers “Junior Golf is the future of the Golf Club, they must enjoy coming here and have fun!” As well as Kids Training in groups according to playing ability and age once a week the golf kids meet up for a game.
Every Friday we have free instruction for beginners and kids aged 5 to 9 years. Our Pro Jan organizes a fun training, and gets the “mini” Golfers fit for the “Platzreife” (Playing ability test).
As soon as the kids have the „Silver“ or „Gold“ certificate they can move into the Monday group. The silver award is the “Elternplatzreife” which is a playing ability test with questions about the rules and etiquette. Having achieved this, the child can go on the course accompanied by an adult. The “Gold” certificate handicap 54, the highest handicap in Germany.
The training on Monday is carried out by Steven (Head Pro) who also has two active golf kids und Jan. The instruction takes place on the practice area as well as on the golf course, getting the kids ready for competitions.
Our golf kids also have the chance to take part in internal golf club competitions which include Junior competitions, Sunday Cups, and Club Championship.
In the “Mini Cup” competition series kids aged up to 10 years can play the competitions on a shortened course. The holes have a maximum length of 200m. From handicap 45 the kids can take part in the “Jugend Allgäu Cup” series. This series is a team competition as well as individual, one event will be hosted on our “home” course. Players with handicaps between 45 and 54 take part in a separate competition over 9 holes giving beginners the chance to gain experience and improve their handicap.
